"Yeah, just be yourself. It doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else."-Jimmy Eat World
Hello. Many of us try to be someone who we aren't just to impress other people; we constantly worry about what others will think of us. Since I'm an incredibly shy person, I'm always scared to present things to other people or perform in front of crowds. I'm always afraid that other people will judge me and laugh at me. When I start to realistically think about it, nobody is going to remember my presentation of a social studies paper in five years or five minutes. There is no need to sweat over something that probably won't impact the rest of our life. You should take advantage over every little thing whether it be a milestone or a meaningless moment. Caring about what other people say is one thing, but obsessing over their opinion is taking it too far.
Now I realize that not everybody is going to like me, and I'm okay with that. People can think what they want because everybody judges and talks about everybody. Your bestfriend? She talks about you all the time. Your mother? Her friends are probably sick of her talking about you. Your dog? What else do they have to bark about? The only time that I will have a problem with someone who doesn't like me is if they become vocal about it, and I hear about it.. Think whatever you want about people just try not to say or do anything about it because they'll have plenty to say about you too.
If you're feeling self-conscious or nervous, listen to a really encouraging song. I like to listen to Three Little Birds by Bob Marley because it says that "Every little thing is gonna be all right." And it will be readers if you let it; I promise.
